This article explains how to scan single or multiple mail items stored in Microsoft Outlook offline Personal Storage (PST) files.


To scan mail items and attachments stored in Microsoft Outlook offline Personal Storage (PST) Files:
Configure the On-Demand Scanner:
  1. Launch Microsoft Outlook.
  2. Click Tools, E-mail Scan Properties, Detection.
  3. In the Messages to scan section, ensure All highlighted items is selected.
  4. Click OK.
Run an On-Demand E-mail Scan:
  1. If necessary, open the Folder List view in Microsoft Outlook by clicking View, Navigation Pane.
  2. Highlight the PST filefolder or mail item you wish to scan.
  3. Click Tools, then Scan for Threats.
    The On-Demand E-mail Scan dialog is displayed and the highlighted items are scanned.
    The left bottom of the screen will display Scan task completed when done.
  4. Exit the On Demand E-mail Scan screen.
