Knowing the VSE and VSE Patch Version, DAT Version, and Scan Engine Version is essential when troubleshooting. The best way to determine this information is through the About screen. Or, you can verify the VSE file versions using Windows Explorer.
When a patch is applied, the relevant files are updated and the About screen displays the new patch level. Details of files updated are in the release notes that accompany each patch. Hotfixes applied are not displayed.

Method 2 - From the VirusScan console

- Click Help, About VirusScan Enterprise.

To identify the VSE patch build number:
CAUTION: This article contains information about opening or modifying the registry.
- The following information is intended for System Administrators. Registry modifications are irreversible and could cause system failure if done incorrectly.
- Before proceeding, Technical Support strongly recommends that you back up your registry and understand the restore process. For more information, see: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/256986.
- Do not run a REG file that is not confirmed to be a genuine registry import file.
The version number in the Windows Registry denotes VirusScan Enterprise build numbers and does not reflect Patch or Hotfix versions. To access this information:
- Click Start, Run, type regedit, then click OK.
- Navigate to the following registry keys:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/McAfee/DesktopProtection]
- Although the patch number is easiest to locate in the About window, it is also possible to find this number in the registry.
In the right pane, locate the String Value named szProductVer and note its value.
- In the right pane, locate the String Value named Patch_x and note its value. (The x denotes the patch version number.)
NOTE: To identify what build number is associated with the patch, see KB51111.
