Solution
This behavior is expected. Negative Extra.DAT files do not show up in the About window, regardless if the Extra.DAT is expired.
When an Extra.DAT file is applied to VirusScan Enterprise, information about the new detections in the Extra.dat are included in the About window. To display the About window, right-click the VirusScan icon in the taskbar or click Help, About in the VirusScan Console.
Extra.DATs are released to provide emergency coverage until the signatures they contain can be added to the regular DAT release. Not all Extra.DAT files are configured to expire in the same amount of time.
Most Extra.DATs will expire after 30 days. This period is used most often for Extra.DAT expiration, but do not consider it required. In rare situations, the expiration can be set to less than 30 days. When this period is less, this difference is communicated.
NOTE: The expiration date is by driver, not by Extra.DAT. If you concatenate two individual Extra.DATs (each with one driver) into a single Extra.DAT file, the combined Extra.DAT has an expiration date for each driver.
