NOTE: This article is intended for the exchange administrator who runs Security for Microsoft Exchange on their exchange server.
The information in this article helps you submit spam or phishing emails to us:
- Spam is unsolicited email that you haven’t subscribed to receive. Messages that you subscribed to through a mailing list or other forum don’t count as spam.
- Phishing is the fraudulent practice of sending an email that claims to be from a reputable company. The email tries to lure an individual to reveal personal information, such as passwords and credit card numbers.
When you submit samples, you help enhance antispam detection and handling. We analyze the samples and use them with other research data and customer submissions to enhance detection.
Spam and phishing submission guidelines:
- Use the information in this article to submit samples of items not caught by the latest ruleset. Or, submit legitimate email that has been incorrectly identified as spam by the latest ruleset.
- Do not use these procedures to report product issues or inquire about an existing Service Request.
- If a specific email or email content is causing issues in your environment, work with Support to create a content rule in Security for Mail Servers. This content rule is to identify key phrases from a repeated spam message and handle it appropriately.
- If the item is from a recognized source and is a false positive, use the product allow list capabilities. This action allows mail through while submissions are being handled.
- Although spam messages rarely contain sensitive information, make sure that you don’t submit confidential or sensitive information using these submission processes.
