IMPORTANT: As manufacturers release new operating systems, platforms, and Service Packs, the original McAfee Product Guides might not reflect the current McAfee support policy for those platforms.

  • Host IPS 7.0 Patch 2 supports Windows Vista Service Pack 1, Host IPS 7.0 Patch 5 supports Windows Vista Service Pack 2.
  • Host IPS 7.0 Patch 5 supports Windows 7, Host IPS 7.0 Patch 8 supports Windows 7 SP1.
NOTE 2: 
Host IPS 7.0 supports Windows XP Pro for Embedded as long as the OS has not been modified in any way from a standard Windows XP Pro version. Reported issues will be addressed if replicated on a standard Windows XP Professional OS. See Microsoft Windows XP Professional for Embedded Systems for further information. 

NOTE 3: 
Host IPS 7.0 is not recommended (NR) for use with Microsoft Windows 7 due to a low-level architectural problem related to the NDIS 5.x driver. See KB77696 for details.

  • Host IPS Client 7.0 local user interface functionality is not supported on Windows Server 2008 Server Core.
  • Host IPS 7.0 HTTP engine is not supported on Windows Server 2008 R2 with IIS 7.0 or later.

IMPORTANT: McAfee Agent 4.0 RTW is not supported on Solaris for Host IPS 7.0. Use McAfee Agent 4.0 Patch 1 (or higher) for non-Windows systems as this supports Host IPS 7.0 on Solaris.

Definitions
End of Support (EOS) Notification The notification that establishes when the discontinued product will no longer have General Availability. EOS Notification begins the EOL process.
End of Life (EOL) Period The EOL Period refers to the timeframe beginning with the day that McAfee notifies its intentions to discontinue a product until the last date that the product is formally supported. In general, after the EOL Period is announced, product enhancements are not made.
End of Support The last day that the product is supported according the terms of McAfee’s standard support offering.
