Outlook stops responding when you open .PST files on a remote share
Technical Articles ID:
KB59974
Last Modified: 7/21/2020 Environment
McAfee VirusScan Enterprise (VSE) 8.x Microsoft Outlook - all supported versions For details of VSE supported environments, see KB51111. ProblemOutlook hangs when you open a .PST file located in a remote share behind a local area network (LAN) or wide area network (WAN) link. System Change
The .PST file is located in a remote share, not on the local system.
Cause
The issue is not related to VSE. Microsoft does not support the Remote PST scenario. It is known to cause issues when files are being loaded from a remote location to the client computer.
Solution
To avoid any issues, .PST files need to be on the local system. For more details, see Microsoft article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/297019. Related Information
