Technical Articles ID:   KB67024
Last Modified:  6/9/2019

Environment

McAfee Data Loss Prevention (DLP) Endpoint - all supported versions
McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) 5.x

For details about the DLP Endpoint supported environments, see KB68147.

Problem

A log file is not created by default when you deploy the DLP agent from ePO, which makes it diffcult to troubleshoot installation issues.

Solution

Deploy the DLP agent through ePO
  1. Log on to the ePO console.
  2. Click System Tree.
  3. Click the Assigned Client Tasks tab and edit the Product Deployment task.
  4. Select  the existing verson of McAfee Data Loss Prevention from the Products and Components list under the Configuration tab.
  5. Type following into the Command line field:

    /L*v %TEMP%\DLPAgentInstall.log

  6. Click Save.

NOTE: After the client task finishes, you can find the installation in the %TEMP% folder on the client.

Solution

Install the DLP agent locally on the client computer
  1. Copy both DLPAgentInstall.exe and DLPAgentInstall.msi files to a temporary folder on the client (for example, C:\ ).
  2. Click Start, Run, type cmd, and click OK.
  3. Type the following command and press Enter:

    c:\DLPAgentInstall.exe /L*v "%TEMP%\DLPAgentInstall.log"

NOTE: You can find the log file in the %TEMP% folder, even if the installation fails.
