Summary

You can use SNMP to retrieve statistics from a Network Security Sensor. 

For example, to obtain Total count of bytes sent or received by an interface, the following OIDs can be used with the snmpget command:
  • OID: .1.3.6.1.4.1.8962.2.1.3.1.1.3.1.11
    Description: Total count of bytes that have been sent on this interface.
     
  • OID: .1.3.6.1.4.1.8962.2.1.3.1.1.3.1.5
    Description: Total count of bytes that this interface port has received. 
Append the above OIDs with the slotIndex (always 2) followed by the port index.
  • .1.3.6.1.4.1.8962.2.1.3.1.1.3.1.11.<slot index>.<port index>

    Example: To obtain the total bytes sent over the interface port with the index value of 4, the command would be:

    .1.3.6.1.4.1.8962.2.1.3.1.1.3.1.11.2.4
The port index differs among Sensor models. This article provides a list of port indexes for the M-series and states the formula used for NS-series Sensors.

NOTE: On M-series, the slotIndex for all monitoring ports is 2.
The portIndex is 1 - N where N is the highest port number on the model. Example N = 20 for M-2750.
 
For NS-series:
  • For NS-series 3x00, 5x00, 7x00, 9100, 9200, 9300P:
    The slot Index is based on the Port Group it belongs to.
    QSFP on G0 uses slotIndex = 2 and 1-based  portIndex from 1 - 2
    Pluggable module in G1 uses slotIndex = 3 and 1-based portIndex within the pluggable module
    Pluggable module in G2 uses slotIndex = 4 and 1-based portIndex within the pluggable module
    RJ45 in G3 uses slotIndex = 5 and 1-based portIndex from 1 - 8
     
  • For NS-series 9300S:
    QSFP on G4 uses slotIndex = 6 and 1-based  portIndex from 1 - 2
    Pluggable module in G5 uses slotIndex = 7 and 1-based portIndex within the pluggable module
    Pluggable module in G6 uses slotIndex = 8 and 1-based portIndex within the pluggable module
    RJ45 in G7 uses slotIndex = 9 and 1-based portIndex from 1 - 8
