McAfee SiteAdvisor Enterprise (SAE) 3.5

Summary

This article describes how to enable debug logging with SAE 3.5. Technical Support uses debug logs when troubleshooting SAE issues.

Solution

Create a new DWORD and restart the services.

{GENRD.EN_US}
  1. Create the DWORD value:
    1. Click Start, Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
    2. Navigate to the following registry key:

      32-bit systems:
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\McAfee\SiteAdvisor Enterprise

      64-bit systems:
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\McAfee\SiteAdvisor Enterprise

    3. Right-click SiteAdvisor Enterprise, and select New, DWORD Value.
    4. Name the new value LogLevel.
    5. Double-click LogLevel, and set the DWORD value to 4.
    6. Click File, Exit.

  2. Restart services:
    1. Click Start, Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.
    2. Right-click McAfee SiteAdvisor Enterprise, and select Restart.

  3. Collect all log files in this location to give to Technical Support:

    %allusersprofile%\Application Data\McAfee\MCLOGS\SAE\

Debug logs can also get written to this location if the user is not an Administrator. Copy the link below into Windows Explorer to see the logs. You cannot browse to this directory.

    C:\Users\--logged-in-user name--\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Virtualized\C\ProgramData\McAfee\MCLOGS\SAE\

  4. Disable debug logging after you collect sufficient details. Delete the registry entry and restart the SAE service.
