If your system performance is significantly affected by scanning, Intel Security recommends excluding DLP Endpoint content from scans. This article explains how to exclude a list of DLP Endpoint processes and folders from being scanned by the VSE scanning engine.

To exclude DLP Endpoint processes:
  1. Open the VirusScan Console.
  2. Right-click On-Access Scanner and select Properties.
  3. Select All Processes.
  4. Enable different scanning policies for High-risk, Low-risk, and Default processes.
  5. Click Low-Risk, then click Add.
  6. In the Select Application section, click Browse.
  7. Type the following processes to exclude:
    • fcags.exe
    • fcagte.exe
    • fcagswd.exe
    • fcag.exe

NOTE: The default locations for these processes are:

      C:\Program Files\McAfee\DLP\Agent
  8. Click Open to add the process to the Select Application List.
  9. Click OK to close the dialog.
  10. Click Scan Item Tab, then disable when writing to disk and when reading from disk.
You should also exclude the following DLP folder on systems running Windows Vista or later:
