McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.x
McAfee Host Data Loss Prevention 9.x

This article explains how to exclude a list of processes and folders used for Host Data Loss Prevention (HDLP) from being scanned by the VirusScan Enterprise (VSE) scanning engine to improve performance.

Solution 1

The processes to exclude for HDLP are as follows:
  • fcags.exe
  • fcagte.exe
  • fcagswd.exe
  • fcag.exe
  • fcagt.exe (HDLP 2.2 and earlier)
Default locations:
  • C:\Program Files\McAfee\DLP\Agent
  • C:\Program Files\McAfee\DLP\Agent\Vista32

To exclude HDLP processes with VSE 8.7i and later
  1. Open the VirusScan Console.
  2. Right-click On-Access Scanner and select Properties.
  3. Select Default Processes.
  4. Click the Exclusions tab.
  5. Click Exclusions.
  6. Click Add.
  7. In the What to exclude section, type the processes to exclude (as shown above).
  8. Click OK to close the Add dialog.
  9. Click OK to close the Set Exclusions dialog.
  10. Click Apply, then close the On-Access Properties dialog.

Solution 2

Exclude HDLP folders
  • C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\McAfee\DLP\
  • C:\Program Files\McAfee\DLP\
For instructions about excluding these folders, see KB50998.
