Because the meaning of the
Stop Ruleset action can be confusing, this article provides an example that explains how it works.
You can use Stop Ruleset to control the rules and rule sets that are applied in a policy. This action is helpful when you use hierarchical rule sets, and several rules must be skipped in certain circumstances.
For example:
There are several rules in
Level 1_1 and the action
Stop Ruleset is called in one of these rules. Then all further rules in
Level 1_1 are skipped and the rules in
Level 1_2 are applied next.
If a
Stop Ruleset action triggers in
Level 1_2, all further rules in
Level 1_2,
Level 2_1, and
Level 2_2 are skipped. Web Gateway continues with the next rule that is on the same level as
Level 1_2.
If there is no rule, Web Gateway uses the same hierarchical level at which
ICAP Handling is placed.
