How to allow applications blocked by the SaaS Endpoint Protection Firewall

In might be necessary to allow applications that have been blocked by the SaaS Endpoint Protection Firewall. This article describes how to do this.


SaaS Endpoint Protection Firewall is blocking an application.


Perform the following steps after logging in to your Security Center account.

Check to see if the application is being detected but is blocked: 
  1. Click the Policies Tab, then Add Policy.
  2. Select Allowed Internet applications. This shows the Internet applications blocked and allowed by the firewall.
  3. If available, click Allow for the applications that you want to unblock, then click Next.

If you cannot click Allow, manually allow the application: 

  1. Under Firewall Configuration select Administrator configures firewall.
  2. Click the Policies Tab, then click Add Policy.
  3. Under Firewall Protection Mode, select Report or Protect.
  4. Under Connection type, select Custom settings (Edit) then click Edit.
  5. Under Firewall Custom Settings (Allowed Incoming Connections), click Add Connection.
  6. Type the Connection Name, type the port numbers for the application, then click OK.
  7. Under Allowed incoming connections, select the new connection (if not already selected).
  8. Type a new name for your policy, then click Next.
  9. Select Apply to selected computers from the list below, select the relevant computers, then click Save to store the Policy in SecurityCenter.


  • Policies are automatically applied when scheduled updates take place.

Unblock the applications from the McAfee console on the local system:
  1. On the local system, right-click the M icon in the system tray, then select Open console.
  2. In the top right, click the Action menu, View Application list, select an application, then choose Approve or Block.

    NOTE: You can also choose Add, and add the .exe for the application directly.
  3. Click Back, click the Action menu, then click Set Connection type.
  4. Select Custom (Edit), Any Computer, click Add approved services.
  5. Select the services as appropriate to allow the necessary ports.
  6. Click OK, close the console, and click Yes to save the firewall settings.
  7. Update SaaS Endpoint Protection.
  8. Restart your computer.
