Issue: Security Event ID 577 occurs frequently when a non-admin User logs in.
Resolution: This issue is partially resolved with VSE 8.7i Patch 4. The remaining events are resolved in McAfee Agent 4.5 Patch 3 or later.

KB70202 Issue: The Prevent mass mailing worms from sending mail port blocking rule does not honor exclusions over 16 characters long. User defined Port Blocking access protection rules do not honor exclusions.
Resolution: This issue is resolved in VSE8.7i Patch 5, which is available from the McAfee Download Site.

Issue: When accessing the Actions tab properties of an On-Demand Scan task, the primary and secondary actions for Unwanted Program settings may be disabled even when Detect unwanted programs is enabled.
Resolution: This has been resolved with Hotfix 643450 for VSE 8.7i Patch 4 and 5. The primary and secondary actions for unwanted programs are now always enabled when Detect unwanted programs is enabled.

Issue: When accessing the Actions tab properties of an On-Demand Scan task, the Secondary action for Unwanted Program settings may be enabled even when the primary action is set to Continue scanning or Prompt for user action.
Resolution: This has been resolved with Hotfix 643450 for VSE 8.7i Patch 4 or 5. The secondary action for unwanted programs is now always disabled when the primary action is set to Continue scanning or Prompt for user action. To obtain the hotfix, contact McAfee Technical Support and reference article KB73370.

Issue: On-Access Scan detection messages fail to populate for the user when detections trigger at the system level
Resolution: First resolved with VSE 8.7i Patch 4 Hotfix 613638. This hotfix has been integrated into VSE 8.7i Patch 5.

613356 KB70785 Issue: When another filter driver attempts to filter the McAfee filter driver (mfehidk.sys) as it is loading, both filter drivers can potentially use a large amount of stack space. This results in a stack overflow and double fault exception (EXCEPTION_DOUBLE_FAULT) blue screen error with bugcheck 7f.
Resolution: First resolved with VSE 8.7i Patch 5.

Issue: USB disk is not detected after a scheduled backup on Windows 2008 R2.
Resolution: First resolved with VSE 8.7i Patch 5.

Issue: Malicious software can change NTFS folder permissions on McAfee folders to disable the software
Resolutions: This issue has been resolved with the:

  • Re-release of  VSE 8.7i Patch 5.
  • VSE 8.7i Patch 5 Hotfix 643447.
Self protection now protects McAfee folders, files, and registry data from permission change.
564152 KB70978 Issue: When an On-Demand Scan task is scheduled via ePolicy Orchestrator with configuration settings that allow you to defer the scan for an hour, you do not always see the expected prompt. Consequently, the scan runs without allowing you to defer the task.
Resolution: First resolved with VSE 8.7i Patch 5.
  KB70475 Issue: Installing VSE 8.7i Patch 4 using ePolicy Orchestrator 4.5, changes are made to the registry but not at file level. The software version shown under About also remains unchanged.
Resolutions:
  • For VSE 8.7i Patch 4, resolved using a Superdat attached to the article.
  • Also resolved with VSE 8.7i Patch 5.
