What is VSE 8.8 Cache persistence?
VSE 8.8 Cache persistence, also known as persistent cache, saves the existing cache to a file to prevent the loss of cache data. The saved cache contents can then be read after a restart. It dramatically improves the VSE performance. For more information about the positive impact of VSE 8.8 cache persistence, see
What’s New: McAfee VirusScan Enterprise, 8.8.
NOTE: VSE 8.8 Cache persistence is enabled by default.
Considerations when using VSE 8.8 Cache persistence
- Laptops
If using a laptop, use a bios boot password. It is good practice for laptop security in any event.
- Virtual Machine images
When using cache persistence with Virtual Machine (VM) images, the VM server and storage infrastructure need to be ether:
- Secured to the same level.
Or
- Higher than the guest Operating Systems.
Limit physical access and administrative access. Audit storage and data networks to ensure isolation between guest applications and VM server control and storage.
- Dual boot environments
Do not use cache persistence in dual boot environments such as MacBooks with Boot Camp.
