The
GetClean program is a McAfee Labs initiative to minimize false-positive detections in the field. It aims to prevent false positives on your COE (Common Operating Environment) image files. To achieve this goal, run the
GetClean tool on COE computers or known clean software repositories to harvest clean files.
The program uses Global Threat Intelligence (GTI) for file reputation lookup. It reports only files that are unknown to McAfee Labs, or falsely classified. You can also submit metadata, or samples and metadata, to McAfee Labs. This kind of submission reduces the number of files you need to submit and eliminates duplicate submissions.
The average
GetClean scan time on a computer is 60–90 minutes, and the average
.zip file size of samples collected is 200–350 MB. The McAfee Labs team dedicated to allow lists analyzes, validates, and processes the files you submit. The team then adds them to the GTI allow list and to the McAfee Labs test systems. The files are then scanned on the test systems before each new DAT release.
