MSIEXEC uninstall commands for Host Intrusion Prevention 8.0

McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention (Host IPS) 8.0

Summary

Use the following procedure to uninstall Host IPS when you are locally logged on to the Windows system.

NOTE: You must have full administrator rights to continue.
  1. Disable the Host IPS module.

    NOTE: Or, you can use the ClientControl utility with the /stop switch to disable the Host IPS services. For details, see the following:
     
    1. Open the Host IPS Client user interface (UI) by doing one of the following:  
      • Click the product tray icon.
      • Run McAfeeFire.exe from: C:\Program Files\McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention
    2. Click FileUnlock User Interface.
    3. Deselect Enable Host IPS and click Apply. The status message Host IPS is disabled appears in the bottom-left corner.
      • Also, for Host IPS 8.0 Patch 9 and later, disable the Self Protection feature through the ePO policy or through the local Host IPS Client UI. Ensure that you click Apply if the Self Protection feature is disabled locally. Verify that the Enable Self Protection option is disabled in the Self Protection Policy tab. Also verify that the Self Protection is disabled message appears at the bottom-left corner of the Host IPS Client UI.
    4. Minimize the Host IPS Client UI.
    • The Host Intrusion Prevention 8.0 ClientControl utility is embedded in the product installation directory after you install the product (in C:\Program Files\McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention\).

  2. Click StartRun, type cmd, and click OK.
    NOTE: If you are using Windows Vista or later, and if Windows User Account Control is enabled, right-click Command Prompt and click Run as administrator.
     
  3. Copy and paste the following command (depending on which version you are uninstalling:
    NOTE: You can replace the /q switch with the /qf switch if you want to run the removal non-silently to see progress, status, or error messages.
32-bit system
msiexec.exe /x{6B005DF6-6B6E-4551-B632-B0001DF50499} EPOSPAWNED=True /q /l+*v C:\WINDOWS\Temp\McAfeeLogs\McAfeeHip8_UnInstall.log
64-bit system
msiexec.exe /x{D2B9C003-A3CD-44A0-9DE5-52FE986C03E5} EPOSPAWNED=True /q /l+*v C:\Windows\Temp\McAfeeLogs\McAfeeHip8_UnInstall.log

The uninstallation log is written to the location documented in the commands.
