Environment

McAfee Database Activity Monitoring (DAM) 4.6.x
McAfee Vulnerability Manager for Databases (DVM) 4.6.x

Problem

Your DAM or DVM server is unable to check and receive updates.

Cause

You have not configured DAM or DVM to use a proxy. In most deployments, your server will not have direct access to the Internet. You must configure a proxy to receive updates automatically from the console.

Solution

Perform these steps to configure a proxy for your DAM or DVM server:
  1. Stop the Database Activity Monitor Server service.
  2. Open the Installation_Directory>\conf\server-custom.properties file in an editor of your choice.
  3. Add the following entries:

    server.info.UPDATES.updates.proxy.host=<Proxy IP>
    server.info.UPDATES.updates.proxy.port=<Proxy Port>

    NOTE: <Proxy IP> is the IP address of the Proxy Server and <Proxy Port> is the port associated with the Proxy server.

  4. If the proxy requires authentication, add the following two parameters:

    server.info.UPDATES.updates.proxy.user=<Proxy USER>
    server.info.UPDATES.updates.proxy.pswd=<Proxy PASSWORD>

  5. Start the Database Activity Monitor Server service.
