Intermittent bugchecks (type C2 or D5) can occur when Host DLP 9.x is installed on systems with VSE 8.8 Patch 1 and Host IPS 8.0 Patch 1.

System Change

Installed one or both of the following products on systems running Host DLP 9.x:
  • VSE 8.8 Patch 1
  • Host IPS 8.0 Patch 1


McAfee has determined that there is a defect in a kernel component collectively used by VSE 8.8 Patch 1 and Host IPS 8.0 Patch 1.

Host DLP 9.x exposes the defect intermittently, causing one of the two bugchecks described.


This issue is resolved in the following patches:
  • Host DLP 9.2 Patch 1 - this patch was Released To World (RTW) on April 11, 2012.
  • Host DLP 9.1 Patch 2 - this patch was RTW on April 16, 2012.


If you are unable to install either of the patches listed above, this issue can also be resolved by installing DLP Hotfix (compatibility This hotfix is also available from the Product Downloads site.

NOTE: This hotfix upgrades the shared driver components in the software products listed above. The hotfix does not modify or upgrade any other files or components.
