Documentation Correction: Endpoint Encryption for Files and Folders 4.0 Product Guide for localized versions
Technical Articles ID:  KB73950

McAfee Endpoint Encryption for Files and Folders 4.0

The localized versions of the Endpoint Encryption for Files and Folders (EEFF) 4.0 Product Guide contain the following mistake:

McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator 4.5 (minimum patch 4) and 4.6
McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator 4.5 (minimum patch 4 HF1) and 4.6
McAfee Agent for Windows 4.5 (minimum Patch 2) and 4.6

This mistake is highlighted because it is important to install the ePO 4.5 Patch 4 Hotfix 1 due to the many improvements implemented relating to the ePO Data Channel communication. The ePO Data Channel improvement resolves issues if you deploy EEFF 4.x in large deployments.

This issue will not be corrected for the current EEFF 4.0.x releases.

The issue is resolved in the latest EEFF 4.1 release because it only supports ePO 4.6 Patch 2 and later, and the details in the localized versions match the English version.

The supported environments for EEFF 4.0 on Windows has been updated to highlight this hotfix  requirement. For details, see KB72735.

McAfee product software, upgrades, maintenance releases, and documentation are available from the Product Downloads site at: http://www.mcafee.com/us/downloads/downloads.aspx.

You will need a valid Grant Number for access. KB56057 provides additional information about the Product Downloads site, as well as alternate locations for some products.
