This support statement is provided by the McAfee Product Management Team.
Date: March 5, 2012
This announcement is to inform McAfee customers using Endpoint Encryption for Virtual Disk (VDisk) about the End of Sale (EOS) and End of Life (EOL) policies and dates.
NOTE: VDisk was a small, container based encryption product. These encrypted containers could be open/closed by providing valid credentials. After a review of McAfee’s product portfolio, product management has decided to formally End of Life all versions of VDisk on the Windows and Mac OS X platforms.
EOL/EOS Endpoint Encryption for Virtual Disk
VDisk will reach End of Sale and End of Life on July 16, 2013. As of this date technical support will no longer be provided for these versions by McAfee.
Moving forward for existing customers
Unfortunately McAfee does not offer another enterprise level product with the functionality. McAfee does offer a consumer-based product, McAfee Anti-Theft, with very similar functionality. Because McAfee Anti-Theft is a consumer product, it is not centrally managed through ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO).
