Reference Number Related Article Issue Description
Issue: [Dynamic and RAID disks in Windows]
  • Software RAID: Endpoint Encryption works at the sector level, and consequently it does not support software-based dynamic disks and software based RAID.
  • Hardware RAID: Endpoint Encryption is untested in this mode, but should work properly in environments where pure Hardware RAID has been implemented. However, EEPC cannot support diagnostic or disaster recovery in this situation.
Issue: [HP Notebook PCs with SATA hard disks]
McAfee and HP discovered an issue with the BIOS support of SATA hard disks on HP Notebooks that makes writing to the hard disk in SATA Native mode unreliable. The issue has been confirmed on the HP Compaq nw8440 Mobile Workstation, HP Compaq nc8430 Notebook PC and HP Compaq nx8420 Notebook PC.

If SATA Native Mode is enabled on these systems, the following issues eventually occur due to incorrect writing of data by the HP BIOS:
  • Corrupt graphics and text at pre-boot, missing users, missing tokens.
  • Data Store Corrupt errors.
  • Missing Attribute errors.
  • Unknown User where the user previously functioned and has not been removed.
NOTE: This issue is present in BIOS versions prior to F.10, released April 17th, 2007.

Resolution: This issue does not occur with BIOS version of F.10 or later. To prevent this issue with the above BIOS releases, disable SATA Native Mode in your notebooks BIOS. You can obtain BIOS version F.10 and later through your HP support service. Download the drivers and software from:

    Issue: [Platform Support]
The McAfee Endpoint Encryption team has identified known issues on the following platforms:
  • HP Compaq 6515b: The operating system stops responding in pre-boot with laptops containing the NLG3500 card.
  • Gateway CA6: No power is provided to the NLG3500 network card.
756422   Issue: [HP 8440P] The internal RICOH reader cannot detect any card during PreBoot Authentication (PBA). You see the following message during PBA even though the token is already inserted: Please insert token
Workaround 1:
Use an external card reader. In this situation, you must insert the token twice. The first time you insert the token, you will see the error: The card is not in the reader. The second time you insert the token, it will function as expected.
Workaround 2: Use a Personal Computer Memory Card International Association (PCMCIA) card.
