When you delete a data source, it removes all associated data from the ESM database. The ELM retains the data for the amount of time that is specified in the data retention period configuration. Even though the ELM retains the data, the data is not searchable once the associated data source is removed.

Technical Support recommends that you disable and hide the data source so it no longer appears in the tree. It will no longer collect data, but is still searchable in the ELM.
