The following is observed on systems with File and Removable Media Protection:
- Original data present on a USB device before initialization by FRP fails to be moved back.
- FRP allows the initialization to occur, even though there is not enough space to copy all files back to the USB device.
- FRP does not detect that there is insufficient space on the USB device to complete the initialization process.
During the FRP initialization process, you see the following misleading message:
The application detected temporary files from a previous run that ended prematurely.
Do you want to safely wipe and remove these files?
Yes / No
If you click Yes, which is the default, the data on the USB device is lost. The reason is because the data is deleted during the initialization process. Because the initialization process fails, no data is moved back to the USB device.
The Initialize option is expected to remain disabled (grayed out) if there is insufficient space to copy back the original data.
