Environment

McAfee VirusScan Enterprise (VSE) 8.8

Microsoft Internet Explorer 9.0

Problem

After you install VSE, users might be prompted with a question to enable the 'scriptproxy' add-on when they start Internet Explorer 9.0. The add-on is required for the ScriptScan feature to function normally.

The prompt displays the following message and two options:

The 'scriptproxy' add-on from "McAfee, Inc" is ready for use.

Enable Don't enable

Cause

This prompt is valid for the VSE ScriptScan feature. McAfee can't suppress it because of limitations of the Browser and Domain policy.

Newer browsers provide new levels of security to users. They enable users to decide whether a browser add-on is enabled. Administrators can control whether users can enable or disable add-ons.

Solution

Click Enable or contact your Administrator to configure the Group Policy Settings for Internet Explorer 9 to not prompt users for this message.
