NOTE: Endpoint Encryption for Removable Media (EERM) is automatically installed with Endpoint Encryption Files and Folders (EEFF).

Summary

This article contains important information about known issues of high or medium rating that are outstanding with this product release. This article will be updated if new issues are identified post-release or if additional information becomes available. To read the Release Notes, see: PD24062.

Issue resolutions in patches and major releases are cumulative; therefore McAfee recommends that you install the latest version. To find the most recent release for your product, visit the McAfee Downloads page at http://www.mcafee.com/us/downloads/downloads.aspx.


Endpoint Encryption for Files and Folders 4.2 is the latest release available from the McAfee Downloads site. This article will be updated when newer patches are released that resolve the issues mentioned in this article.

810135 KB78578 Issue: [Host DLP] When copying a file to an EERM managed device, a system that has both EEFF and HDLP 9.3 installed displays the following errors when a Removable Media storage protection rule is triggered:
  • The system displays the following error on Windows 8, Windows 7 and Vista: Catastrophic failure
  • The system displays the following error on Windows XP SP3: The media is write protected
IMPORTANT: The error messages are thrown by the Operating System when file copies are blocked, and there is no impact on the functionality of either EEFF or HDLP.

Workaround: Disable the DLP Sandbox module. Refer to the article for details.
Resolution: Resolved in EEFF 4.2.

  Issue: [Host DLP] DLPe 9.3 and DLPe 9.2.200 cannot extract text from files that are encrypted using EEFF 4.1.x this impacts all DLPe protection rules that need to analyze the file content.
Resolution: For Windows 7 or higher, resolved in EEFF 4.2.
IMPORTANT:
For Windows XP an additional fix is required and is part of DLPe 9.3.100.
818026 n/a Issue: After an Extension upgrade from EEFF 4.0/4.0.1 to EEFF 4.1, then using the 'Removable Media Device events' query, leaves the 'Event Description' fields with blank values.
Resolution: Resolved in EEFF 4.2.
755584 n/a Issue: When  using McAfee EEFF 4.0/4.0 Patch 1 and doing a file count using wildcards via a command-line utility, the resulting file count is incorrect. This issue is now resolved and the correct file count is returned.
Resolution: Resolved in EEFF 4.1 Patch 1.
