McAfee is announcing End of Support (EOS) for Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) versions 9.7.x and earlier - including version 9.7.x, 9.6.x, and 9.5.x. These versions will not be supported after May 13, 2013. Customers still using version 9.7.x or earlier versions should plan on upgrading to EMM 10.2 before the End of Support of the above legacy versions. This article addresses the reasons why customers should upgrade to EMM 10.2.

Features and benefits of upgrading to EMM 10.2:

Product Enhancement
Upgrade path to ePO release
When McAfee EMM is integrated into ePO, users will need to be on 10.2 or later to upgrade.
Support for new iOS 6 MDM features
Support for MDM features available in Apple iOS 5 and 6:
  • Block Siri when device is locked
  • Block Passbook when device is locked
  • Block PhotoStream
  • Block iCloud Backup completely or by managed app
  • Supervised Device support
  • Global HTTP Proxy setting
  • Block iBooks and iBooks with Adult content
  • Block Game Center
  • Block Installing Config Profiles and Certificates
Enhanced  App Management
Includes the following capabilities for iOS 5 and 6:
  • Remotely push apps to device
  • Remotely remove apps from devices
  • Prevent the backup of application data of managed apps to iTunes and iCloud
Improved Android support
  • Enhanced identification of Android devices
  • Device catalogs for Android devices are no longer necessary
Integrated Secure Container for Android
Introduced in EMM 10.1 and includes the following features:
  • AES-256 Encrypted Data Store
  • Block Copy/Paste outside of container
  • Secure viewer to view attachments and prevent storage and opening by third-party applications
  • Consistent look and feel across all Android devices
  • Runs on Android 2.2 up to and including 4.1
  • Integrated into McAfee EMM for management of security settings
Increased Scalability
25K devices per single proxy\hub pair
Enhanced Security, Usability and Enterprise Control
  • User provisioning: Bulk provisioning of users with support of One-Time-Password (OTP) tokens
  • App Blacklisting: Black list unwanted apps
  • Jailbreak detection: Control frequency and number of times jailbreak detection performed before marking a device non-compliant
  • Updated deployment helper for easier installation
