Policy option 'Force automatic reboot after (seconds)' does not work

Environment

McAfee Agent (MA) 5.x
McAfee VirusScan Enterprise (VSE) 8.8

Problem

When VSE 8.8 is deployed to a client computer, the client computer does not restart, even when the McAfee Agent policy option below is enabled:

Force automatic reboot after (seconds)

This event is critical in VSE deployments because VSE needs a restart after installation.

Cause

This behavior is expected.

The Force automatic reboot after (seconds) option is only for deployments where a restart is forced. The VSE installation just recommends a restart, so this parameter is not relevant.

Solution

In the VSE 8.8 Deployment task in ePO, use the command-line option provided below:

REBOOT=A

The above option forces a restart so that the McAfee Agent policy works correctly.
