SiteAdvisor Enterprise 3.5 Patch 1 upgrade fails
Technical Articles ID:
KB77212
Last Modified: 4/6/2017 EnvironmentMcAfee SiteAdvisor Enterprise (SAE) 3.5 (Build 3.5.0.573), 3.5 with Patch 1 (Build 3.5.0.724)
ProblemThe SAE service fails to stop, which prevents the upgrade from succeeding.
McAfee Agent log on the client records the following errors: 2012-11-02 14:18:13.620 i #3616 Updater Verifying SiteAdvisorDet-3.5.0.724.7.McS. CauseSAE detection scripts are failing to determine if SAE 3.5 Patch 1 can be installed when both SAE 3.5 (build 3.5.0.573) and SAE 3.5 with Patch 1 (build 3.5.0.724) are checked in to the ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) master repository.
SolutionThis issue is resolved in SAE 3.5 Patch 2. Patches are cumulative; Technical Support recommends you install the latest one.
McAfee product software, upgrades, maintenance releases, and documentation are available from the Product Downloads site at: https://www.mcafee.com/enterprise/en-us/downloads/my-products.html.
NOTE: You need a valid Grant Number for access. See KB56057 - How to download Enterprise product updates and documentation for more information about the Product Downloads site, and alternate locations for some products. Alternatively, you can implement the following workaround. WorkaroundThis procedure requires a removal tool for SAE that cleans up the client system so a new SAE installation can be completed. The tool is attached to this article (SAEEEDK_1000.zip).
After acquiring the SAE removal tool, take the following action at the ePO server:
