IMPORTANT: Enabling this feature can have a performance impact on users' systems when this policy is applied. Perform the steps below only for troubleshooting purposes on specific systems.
Use the following steps to create log files for the Agent and the plug-ins on a single system:
- Log on to the ePO console.
- Click System Tree and select the system.
- Click Actions, Agent, Modify Policies on a Single System.
- Select the version of Data Loss Prevention.
- Click Edit Assignments under the Actions column for Client Configuration.
- Select Break Inheritance and click New Policy for the Assigned policy entry.
- Type a policy name in the new window and click OK.
- Click the Debugging and Logging tab.
- Select Log all messages (for debugging) for Log Level.
- Click Save.
- Assign the policy to the endpoint.
- Send an Agent wake-up call and verify that the policy was enforced.
- Restart the system.
- Verify the log files.
The files are created in the following locations:
- Windows Vista and later - C:\ProgramData\McAfee\DLP\Temp\logs
- Windows XP and earlier - C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\McAfee\DLP\Temp\
The following log files must be present in the folders above, or subfolders named for each user session on the system as 'Session#1', 'Session#2':
- Shell Extension - HDLP_ShlExt.log
- Notes - HDLP_Notes.log
- Outlook - HDLP_Outlook.log
- PST Crawler - HDLP_PST.log
- IE - HDLP_IE.log
- Firefox - HDLP_FF.log
- Chrome - HDLP_Chrome.log
- Te - HDLP_Te_<Time & Date>.log
- Agent - HDLP_Agent_<Time & Date>.log
- ePo Agent DLPe Plugin - EpoAgentPlugin.log
- Service - HDLP_Service_<Time & Date>.log
- ServiceWatchDog - HDLP_AgentServiceWatchDog_<Time & Date>.log
