Problem

A Microsoft Windows popup error displays on restart on a system with McAfee Application Control (MAC) in Enable mode if you run sysprep.exe and select the generalize option.

NOTE: Sysprep is the name of Microsoft's System Preparation Tool for Microsoft Windows operating system deployment. For details, see: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/302577.

Solution

Configure setupcl.exe as an Updater to resolve this issue.

Standalone:
Use sadmin to configure setupcl.exe as an Updater.
  1. Click Start, Run, type cmd, and click OK.
  2. Type the following command and press ENTER:

    sadmin updaters add setupcl.exe

Managed by ePolicy Orchestrator:
Configure setupcl.exe as an Updater in the MAC policy and push to the host systems.
  1. Log on to the ePO console.
  2. Click Policy Catalog.
  3. Select Solidcore 6.x.x:Application Control from the Product drop-down.
  4. Edit the policy.
  5. Click the Updater tab and configure setupcl.exe as an Updater.
  6. Send an agent wake-up call to the appropriate host systems.
