McAfee Drive Encryption (DE) 7.1
McAfee Endpoint Encryption for PC (EEPC) 7.0 Patch 1 (7.0.1) and later
Lenovo Helix Tablet UEFI BIOS version 1.14
Microsoft Windows 8 Professional

For details of DE 7.1.x supported environments, see KB79422.
For details of EEPC 7.0.x supported environments, see KB76804.

After successfully installing DE/EEPC, encrypting the hard disk on the Lenovo Helix Tablet, and restarting, the system becomes unresponsive after displaying the Lenovo logo splash screen.

The DE/EEPC preboot login screen is never displayed.

The issue is reported with this model on Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit) operating systems, but it may also occur on 32-bit systems.

An DE/EEPC conflicts with the UEFI Firmware when USB 3.0 Mode (Emulation) is set to Enabled or Auto.

Lenovo and McAfee have determined that the following updates need to be installed:

Access the BIOS and set USB 3.0 Mode (Emulation) to Disabled.
