McAfee VirusScan Enterprise for Linux 1.9 Ubuntu 12.xx Problem
When the McAfee runtime libraries (MFErt.i686.deb) are installed, a sym link named ld-linux.so.2 is created in the /lib folder, and it is linked ld-mfert.so.2 (in the same folder), which then points to the /opt/McAfee/runtime/2.0/lib/ld-linux.so.2 file. This changes the system link to the /lib/i386-linux-gnu/ld-2.15.so file which informs all the installed programs where to find library files to run with. To see the issue, you can run the following command: ldd /path to executable/
For example, for Adobe Reader: ldd /opt/Adobe/Reader9/Reader/intellinux/bin/acroread
Produces an output similar to the following: linux-gate.so.1 => (0xf77ce000)
libBIB.so => not found libBIBUtils.so => not found libACE.so => not found libAGM.so => not found libCoolType.so => not found libAXE8SharedExpat.so => not found libJP2K.so => not found libAdobeXMP.so => not found libpthread.so.0 => /opt/McAfee/runtime/2.0/lib/libpthread.so.0 (0xf7777000) libicuuc.so.36 => not found libssl.so.0.9.8 => not found libcrypto.so.0.9.8 => not found libxml2.so.2 => not found libm.so.6 => /opt/McAfee/runtime/2.0/lib/libm.so.6 (0xf7751000) libdl.so.2 => /opt/McAfee/runtime/2.0/lib/libdl.so.2 (0xf774c000) libgdk_pixbuf_xlib-2.0.so.0 => not found Solution
