SiteAdvisor Enterprise fails to install using third-party deployment programs
Technical Articles ID:
KB78966
Last Modified: 3/29/2017 EnvironmentMcAfee SiteAdvisor Enterprise (SAE) 3.5
Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) BigFix ProblemSAE will fail to install using third-party deployment programs such as SCCM or BigFix if VSE is installed on the client.
NOTE: Installation of SAE via an ePolicy Orchestrator initiated deployment task is successful. CauseIf the VSE Access Protection (AP) rule Prevent McAfee services from being stopped is enabled, SAE fails to install using SCCM or other third-party deployment programs.
The McAfee Agent deployment task installation scripts for SAE successfully disable VSE AP so that SAE can install. However, the SAE MSI package does not disable VSE AP, so the installation fails. SolutionThis issue is resolved in SAE 3.5 patch 3.
