Environment

McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention (Host IPS) 8.0

Problem

When you insert an encrypted USB stick into a Microsoft Windows 7 system running Host Intrusion Prevention (Host IPS) 8.0, and then run password.exe to input a password, password.exe (the password inputting program) seems to hang and the Password Input dialog does not display. The system cannot be shut down normally because password.exe is still listed as a running process.

To date, this issue has been reported only on Windows 7 systems; it has not been reported on Windows XP.

This issue has been reported with the following drives:
  • BUFFALO RUF2-HSCW
  • BUFFALO RUF2-HSC-TM
  • BUFFALO RUF2-HSC-UW
  • KINGSTON DT5000_Launcher.exe
  • KINGSTON DT6000_launcher.exe)
  • BARCO Clickshare Presentation System
