McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention (Host IPS) 8.0 Problem
When you insert an encrypted USB stick into a Microsoft Windows 7 system running Host Intrusion Prevention (Host IPS) 8.0, and then run password.exe to input a password, password.exe (the password inputting program) seems to hang and the Password Input dialog does not display. The system cannot be shut down normally because password.exe is still listed as a running process. To date, this issue has been reported only on Windows 7 systems; it has not been reported on Windows XP. This issue has been reported with the following drives:
Solution
This issue is resolved in Host IPS 8.0 Patch 4, which is available from the McAfee Downloads site. McAfee product software, upgrades, maintenance releases, and documentation are available from the Product Downloads site at: https://www.mcafee.com/enterprise/en-us/downloads/my-products.html.
