ProblemSome web pages are blocked after upgrading to SAE 3.5 Patch 2, reporting as an unknown rating.
Example of a block message: This site is blocked Message: Access to this website was blocked because McAfee Intelligence was unable to analyze its content McAfee rating as Unknown. CauseSAE 3.5 Patch 2 adds a new feature to block sites that McAfee GTI does not have a rating for. The feature is called Zero Day Protection. By default, Zero Day Protection is set to Block, and any unknown rated site will be blocked.
The SAE 3.5 Patch 2 Release Notes (PD24664) states the following: Zero day protection You can configure policies to define SiteAdvisor Enterprise actions on the websites that are not known to the GTI server. The SAE 3.5 Patch 2 Product Guide (PD24659) states the following:
Block or warn unknown URLs and file downloads
Zero day protection allows you to block or warn the URLs and file downloads that are unknown to or unrated by Global Threat Intelligence server. SolutionIndividual sites can be added to the Authorize list. Sites in the Authorize list with an unknown rating do no get blocked.
IClient can also change the default action for the Zero Day Protection setting in the General policy to Allow or Warn on unknown sites.
