McAfee investigated this issue and a solution is currently available. This solution is currently not generally available, but is in Released to Support (RTS) status. To obtain the RTS build, log on to the ServicePortal and create a Service Request (https://support.mcafee.com/ServicePortal/faces/serviceRequests/createSR). Include this article number in the Problem Description field.

Resolution: McAfee has determined the issue is in the Fanotify feature of Linux Kernel when multiple threads iterate to the same directory or files. McAfee opened the following Bug Report with Kernel.org: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=95131. Contact the support team of the distribution vendor for the fixed version of this Fanotify bug.

Resolution: IMPORTANT: To make this hotfix work, customers must have installed or upgraded to McAfee Agent 5.0.6 build number 550. This build was released as part of McAfee Agent Hotfix 1238995 (HF1238995) or later versions.
1143856	-	2.0.3	-	Issue: All files are blocked on NFS4 mounted volumes when VSEL 2.x is running. Workaround: Do not run VSEL on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 11 with SP2, SP3, or SP4.
1143852	KB87425	2.0.3	-	Issue: Malware infection is not detected on an NFS4 mount until after the nails service is reloaded. Workaround: Manually start the nails service. See the related article for details.
1143693	-	2.0.3	-	Issue: When running VSEL 2.x, there is a 5–10 second delay performing vi operation. This behavior has been observed on SLES 12 SP 1 and Ubuntu 14.04 (64-bit).

921478	-	2.0.0	-	Issue: No detection occurs on a BTRFS-mounted root file system with the home directory mounted as encryptfs. No callbacks are received from Fanotify when a volume is mounted as encryptfs.
913869	-	2.0.0	-	Issue: On-Access Scanning for NFSv4 is supported only with kernel version 3.5 and later on the supported distributions. It is a Fanotify limitation.
896944	-	2.0.0	-	Issue: If you enable Network-mounted volumes scanning, file creation/copying to CIFS-mounted volumes might take longer. It is because Fanotify takes more time to release a file open call on CIFS volumes. McAfee is aware of this issue and is working with the respective operating system vendor for a fix.
-	-	2.0.0	-	Issue: The logepo process does not start. The events generated are not sent to ePolicy Orchestrator. Workaround: Ensure that the logging detail level on the General Setting tab is set to Normal. If the logging detail level is set to Low, the logepo process is not started.
-	-	2.0.0	2.0.3	Issue: You are unable to check the second VSEL 2.0.x hotfix into the ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) current branch of the Master Repository from the ePO Software Download Manager. Workaround: Instead of clicking the check-in option, click the update option. Do not select the option to move any existing hotfix.
1070730	-	2.0.0	2.0.3	Issue: When VSEL is deployed from ePolicy Orchestrator, the installer can enter a loop if the SMTP server check gets an improper return on SMTP server information.
