When installing Data Loss Prevention Endpoint from ePolicy Orchestrator, VirusScan Enterprise blocks certain packages that fail to install

When you install DLP Endpoint from ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO), Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable packages do not install, and cause issues with DLP Endpoint functionality . 


VSE 8.x Access Protection blocks these executables from being installed properly:



To add an exclusion to the Access Protection policy for *651767.exe:
  1. Log on to the ePO console.
  2. Click MenuPolicyPolicy Catalog.
  3. Select VirusScan Enterprise 8.x.x in the Product field.
  4. Select Access Protection Policies in the Category field.
  5. Double-click the VSE 8.x.x policy that needs to be changed. Also, click Duplicate to create a new policy, provide a name in the New policy name field, and click OK.
  6. Click the Access Protection tab.
    NOTE: Make sure that you select the correct entry for the intended computer in the Settings for field: Workstation or Server.
  7. In the Access Protection Rules list, select Common Standard Protection.
  8. In the Block/Report/Rules list, select Prevent modification of McAfee Common Management Agent files and settings and click Edit.
  9. In the Processes to exclude field, type *x64_651767.exe and click OK to save the policy.
    NOTE: If you are using a 32-bit OS, you must add *x86_651767.exe.
  10. After the policy is modified, sync the systems that experienced the issue with ePO, and restart the clients.
