Environment

McAfee SiteAdvisor  Enterprise (SAE) 3.5

Google Chrome 35 and later

For details of SAE supported environments, see KB51244.

Problem

Chrome 35 made changes that require extensions to be installed from the Chrome Web Store. This causes the following pop-up message to display in Chrome:

Extensions disabled

To make Chrome safer, we disabled some extensions that aren't listed in the Chrome Web Store and may have been added without your knowledge.
  • McAfee SiteAdvisor Enterprise

When you access the extension tab in Chrome, the SAE Extension is listed, but cannot be enabled.

Cause

With Chrome 35, Google started to block local Chrome extensions to protect Windows users. This change in design means that you can install an extension in Chrome for Windows only if the extension is hosted on the Chrome Web Store.

Solution

SAE 3.5 Patch 3 HF1015409 resolves this issue. HF1015409 is available through the product download server, and through ePO software manager.

IMPORTANT: HF1015409 applies only to SAE 3.5 patch 3.

McAfee product software, upgrades, maintenance releases, and documentation are available from the Product Downloads site at: http://www.mcafee.com/us/downloads/downloads.aspx.

NOTE: You need a valid Grant Number for access. KB56057 provides additional information about the Product Downloads site, and alternate locations for some products.
