問題

VSEL standalone installation fails with the error:

Extracting package files
.....
installer: failed to add nails into /etc/rc.d/rc[2-5].d

原因

The installer was run by the root user, but the /sbin directory was not included in systems PATH environment variable. This results in the 'chkconfig' command failing, which is located at /sbin/chkconfig.

解決策

Obtain the current parameters that are contained in systems PATH environment variable to ensure that the executing root account has /sbin and /usr/sbin in PATH environment parameter, then correct it.

To show the paths set in the path environment variable at the command prompt type:

echo $PATH

Example of the correct output:

/usr/kerberos/sbin:/usr/kerberos/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/root/bin
If the output does not contain /sbin:/bin or /usr/sbin, then update the path environment variable.
Run the VSEL standalone installer again.
