In a rare scenario, an un-solidified (not in the whitelist) driver is loaded with MAC enabled
Technical Articles ID:   KB82806
Last Modified:  4/19/2016

Environment

McAfee Application Control (MAC) 6.1, 6.0

Microsoft Windows Vista and later

Problem

In a rare scenario, MAC allows execution of non-whitelisted supported files. This happens only when a certain sequence of conditions are met, not in the normal execution workflow.

The following conditions must be met for this to occur:
  • Application Control is in enable mode
  • The process loading the file is not an updater
  • The file is not whitelisted or authorized to execute/load
When all of these conditions are met, un-solidified drivers should not be loaded.

Solution

This issue is resolved in MAC 6.1.3.380.

McAfee product software, upgrades, maintenance releases, and documentation are available from the Product Downloads site at: http://www.mcafee.com/us/downloads/downloads.aspx.

NOTE: You need a valid Grant Number for access. KB56057 provides additional information about the Product Downloads site, and alternate locations for some products.
