It is a best practice to upgrade the RAM in your existing Web Gateway appliances for the 64-bit anti-malware process, and other features that were first made available with Web Gateway 7.5.0 and included in all subsequent 7.x releases.
RAM upgrades that follow the recommendations in this article do not void the appliance hardware warranty.
NOTE: It is not supported to mix different DIMMs (vendor, model, size) in one appliance. Only the listed DIMMS are supported.
IMPORTANT: After you install the LVDIMMs in a Web Gateway 5x00B appliance and boot the server, the IBMC will report a
DIMM voltage change error message in the System Event Log (SEL).
The SEL will also log an error reporting a higher threshold value than the expected
1.35v for the
LVDIMM memory:
a | 01/11/2017 | 10:41:56 | Voltage BB +1.35v P1 MEM | Upper Non-critical going high | Asserted | Reading 1.50 > Threshold 1.44 Volts
b | 01/11/2017 | 10:41:56 | Voltage BB +1.35v P1 MEM | Upper Critical going high | Asserted | Reading 1.50 > Threshold 1.48 Volts
c | 01/11/2017 | 10:42:03 | Voltage BB +1.35v P1 MEM | Upper Non-critical going high | Deasserted | Reading 0
d | 01/11/2017 | 10:42:03 | Voltage BB +1.35v P1 MEM | Upper Critical going high | Deasserted | Reading 0
From these errors you might conclude that this model of appliance does not support LVDIMM use, but this is
incorrect. The Web Gateway 5X00B appliance
does support this memory and this is a known cosmetic issue. You can safely ignore these errors.
