Exclusions for Windows format folders prevent the Nails process from loading

McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) 4.6.x, 5.x All Supported Linux Operating Systems ProblemAfter you add an exclusion for a Windows format folder that ends with a backslash ( \ ) character (example: C:\Program Files\Test\), the Nails process fails to load. When you check the status of the Nails process, you see the following error:
#/etc/init.d/nails status The McAfeeVSEForLinux daemon process <PID> appears not to be running. CauseWindows type exclusions are not supported with VSEL.
SolutionThe following hotfixes resolve the issue:

NOTE: You need a valid Grant Number for access. WorkaroundIt is strongly recommended to use the appropriate hotfix for your version of VSEL listed in the Solution, but if you cannot apply the appropriate hotfix immediately, apply the following workaround.
For systems managed by ePO: Remove any Windows path type exclusions in the On-Access Scanning Policy:
For unmanaged systems: Remove the exclusion manually from each Linux system:
