McAfee Web Gateway (MWG) 8.x, 7.x
McAfee Data Exchange Layer (DXL) 5.x, 4.x, 3.x

This article provides information about accessing and downloading the Data Exchange Layer (DXL) embedded client and the Mobile ePO (MePO) Extension.
The DXL embedded client is used by products, particularly appliances, when integrating with DXL. This integration uses the MePO Extension to enable ePO to manage systems using the DXL embedded client. The client is provided as a library that is built into the integrating product as part of that product’s development process.
MWG 7.5.2 introduced the ability to integrate with DXL. To connect MWG to a DXL Broker, the MePO Extension must be installed on the ePO server. The DXL client included in MWG uses the MePO Extension to establish a secure connection to a DXL Broker. The DXL Broker is an essential part of the DXL messaging feature.

To download the MePO Extension:
The MePO Extension is available for download from the Product Downloads site. The MePO Extension is listed under the DXL product components.
McAfee product software, upgrades, maintenance releases, and documentation are available from the Product Downloads site at: http://www.mcafee.com/us/downloads/downloads.aspx.

NOTE: You need a valid Grant Number for access. KB56057 provides additional information about the Product Downloads site, and alternate locations for some products.

Also, it is available on the Content and Cloud Security portal (https://contentsecurity.mcafee.com/software_mwg7_tools).
To install the MePO Extension:
To support connection of the DXL client in MWG to a DXL Broker, install the MePO Extension on the ePO server:
  1. Log on to the ePO console.
  2. Click Menu, Software, Extensions.
  3. Browse to and select the MePO Extension file, and then click OK.
To verify the MePO Extension is installed:
The MePO Extension does not have a user interface and is not visible to users after it is installed. To verify that the MePO Extension is installed in ePO, click Menu, Extensions, Server, and then check for McAfee Mobile ePO in the list.
To provision DXL clients to operate through MePO:
Ensure that the following extensions are installed before performing this procedure:
  • DXL Broker Management Extension

  • DXL Client Management Extension
  • MePO Extension
To provision DXL clients to operate through MePO, perform the following steps:
  1. Create an ePO user.

  3. Provide this user when you provision each DXL MePO client.
