McAfee Agent 5.x

Problem

Some McAfee Agent Monitor actions (Collect and Send Props, Send Events, Check New Policies, and Enforce Policies) are unavailable after manually restarting McAfee Agent 5.x services.

Cause

This can occur when the McAfee Agent Backwards Compatibility Service is started before the McAfee Agent Service is started. 

Solution

When manually starting McAfee Agent 5.x services, do not start the McAfee Agent Backwards Compatibility Service. This service is set to manual start and should never be started manually by a user. Rather, this service will be called by the McAfee Agent Service and started if/when needed.

If the McAfee Agent Backwards Compatibility Service is set to automatic start, it should be changed to manual start.

If a Group Policy Object (GPO) is defined to set this service to automatic start, it should be deleted or changed to set the service to manual start.
