XML Exception: Invalid character token (Rogue System Detection sensor does not report detected systems to ePolicy Orchestrator)

Environment

McAfee Rogue System Detection (RSD) 5.0.2, 5.0.1, 5.0.0

Problem

If a detected system contains a non-UTF8 character in the NetBIOS name, the RSD sensor is prevented from returning detected system data to the ePO server.

The following error displays in the rsdpp.log:
 
RSDPP.DetectedSystems.DetectedSystemsSubsystem: [Error] Failed to send RSD events: XML Exception: Invalid character token.

Cause

The detected system contains a non-UTF8 character in the NetBIOS name.

Solution

This issue is resolved in RSD 5.0.3.
