McAfee Endpoint Security (ENS) 10.x

After installing ENS, the event log contains 4017 CAPI2 certificate store errors and messages of failed verification.

The installation problem might be caused by a cached Microsoft certificate that has expired or become corrupted. This certificate would likely cause installation issues because AAC (Arbitrary Access Control), along with validation trust protection that depends on certificate data, will start and be unable to verify proper certificates from Microsoft, and most likely McAfee.

Run the following Microsoft fix to resolve the issue before you install ENS:
  1. Access the fix at: support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2328240.
  2. Click Download at the bottom of the page and run the fix.
  3. Run the following command: certutil -urlcache * delete
