McAfee Agent ignores the "Run missed task" setting when a system exits from hibernation
Technical Articles ID:   KB86203
Last Modified:  8/12/2016

Environment

McAfee Agent (MA) 5.0.2, 5.0.1, 5.0.0

Problem

Windows systems that are hibernated ignore the Run missed task setting, and tasks run immediately that missed their scheduled time.

For example, suppose a VirusScan On-Demand Scan task is created to run daily, with the Run missed task setting deselected; the task should not run if the task time is missed. However, on a client that supports Windows hibernation mode, and with the system placed into hibernation until after the task would be expected to normally run, the task starts immediately after the system is awakened from hibernation. This should not happen because Run missed task was deselected.

Solution

This issue is resolved in MA 5.0.3, which is available from the Product Downloads site at: http://mcafee.com/us/downloads/downloads.aspx.

NOTE: You need a valid Grant Number for access. KB56057 provides additional information about the Product Downloads site, and alternate locations for some products.

Updates are cumulative; Technical Support recommends that you install the latest one.

Workaround

The issue occurs only for systems that are hibernated, so the issue will not occur if you disable hibernation mode. To disable hibernation mode locally, use the shell command: powercfg -h off.
