McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) 5.x

When attempting to upgrade ePO in a cluster environment by running setup.exe on the primary node of the cluster, the following error displays:
To upgrade this ePolicy Orchestrator installation, run setup on the primary node of the cluster.

A registry value is present on the primary node that incorrectly identifies it as a secondary node.

CAUTION: This article contains information about opening or modifying the registry.
  • The following information is intended for System Administrators. Registry modifications are irreversible and could cause system failure if done incorrectly.
  • Before proceeding, Technical Support strongly recommends that you back up your registry and understand the restore process. For more information, see: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/256986.
  • Do not run a REG file that is not confirmed to be a genuine registry import file.
  1. Press Windows+R, type regedit.exe, and click OK.
  2. Check for the following registry values. If either or both of the following registry values exist, delete them:
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Network Associates\ePolicy Orchestrator\SecondaryClusterNode
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432node\Network Associates\ePolicy Orchestrator\SecondaryClusterNode
NOTE: Ensure that you delete the SecondaryClusterNode value. Do not simply clear the value data; the installer is checking only for the existence of the value itself.
