Removal of applications fails and the system hangs

Environment

McAfee Application and Change Control (MACC) 6.2.0, 6.1.3, 6.1.2, 6.1.1
Microsoft Windows–all supported versions

Problem

When you use the Uninstall option or the Add or Remove Program screen for application removal, it fails. The system stops responding; it hangs or crashes.

NOTE: This issue occurs when Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 and Application Control are installed on the same system.

Cause

There is a compatibility issue between Symantec Endpoint Protection and Application Control.

Solution

To resolve this issue, do the following:

Exclude the following Application Control folders from Symantec Endpoint Protection:
- C:\Program Files\McAfee
- C:\ProgramData\McAfee
- <All_Drives>:\Solidcore (For example, C:\Solidcore, D:\Solidcore)
Add the following rules to Application Control:
- sadmin skiplist add -i "C:\Program Files\Symantec"
- sadmin skiplist add -i C:\ProgramData\Symantec
